Which beginner’s digital SLR camera should I buy?

I am starting my first lessons in photography and have been advised by my friend/teacher to go in for an entry-level camera – the NIKON D40X. I am now wondering what about Olympus or a Canon? Could someone please offer me practical advice? Perhaps a comparative analysis of Nikon and Olympus, for instance? Many thanks [...]

Recommend a great used camera for cool photos I can take as a beginner?

Hi,
Can you guys recommend a great film or digital camera that takes photos, for a beginner, that I can buy used on ebay for under $30? The price is flexi, but I’d like to know what the good brands are. I’ve heard Minolta is good, but the battery tends to die quickly.
Thanks!

what camera should i get that has a fast shutter speed that will have a great resolution to take great photos?

i want a new camera that will work great for taking portraits and yet still be able to take an excellent action picture. i enjoy taking volleyball pictures but you have to have a fast enough shutter speed to capture the action without it being blurry. And yet i have a budget thats under $250.

Can anyone reccomend a good ‘affordable’ digital camera that will take great photos at a hockey game?

I will be taking some photos at nhl games this year and want something that has a decent zoom and will take good shots. Thanks!

Do they make digital SLR cameras that take great photos like the old film SLRs? For how much?

By ‘great’: can you control the depth of field, “shutter” speed etc. to capture flowing water, blur or freeze action intentionally knock the unwanted background out of focus and so on, as well as a film camera does?

I’m going on a trip I would like digital photography tips?

Shortie asked:
This is my first trip out of state with my digital camera. Does anyone have tips on taking really nice pictures? I used to have a different camera but it would suck the juice out of the batteries less than 5 minutes.
